Members of the public can learn how to play their part in transforming Staffordshire's cancer and end of life care services at an event in Stoke-on-Trent on 24 February.
The Transforming Cancer and End of Life Care Programme aims to deliver care for people in Staffordshire which is amongst the best in Europe.
The number of people living with cancer and end of life conditions is increasing and the programme wants to appoint a lead organisation to ensure care is coordinated across Staffordshire.
Four Staffordshire CCGs – North Staffs, Stoke-on-Trent, Cannock Chase and Stafford and Surrounds – are working with Macmillan Cancer Support, NHS England and local authorities to deliver the programme.
As well as hearing updates from the team there is an opportunity to ask questions and meet - and perhaps join – the programme's patient champions.
The patient champions are members of the local community who are going through treatment or have undergone treatment or cared for a friend or relative.
Members of the patient champion group are working with GPs and commissioners to ensure patients' views and insight are at the heart of the programme and shape services.
North Staffordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) chief operating officer Marcus Warnes said it was an opportunity for the public to learn more and play their part in shaping services.
"We have an active and passionate patient champions group and we want to encourage more patients and carers to join us and share their views and insight," he said.
