Stafford patients urged to join the war on antibiotic resistance

Patients in the Stafford area are being urged to use antibiotics responsibly to keep them in good health and prevent disease-resistant infection from spreading.

Antibiotics are a vital tool for treating infections such as pneumonia, meningitis and tuberculosis and for preventing infections during surgical procedures and cancer treatment. However, the more antibiotics are used the less effective they become because overuse gives resistant bacteria a greater chance to survive and spread.

Joint Staff Awards 2016

Staff from Stafford and Surrounds CCG, Cannock Chase CCG and South East Staffordshire and Seisdon Peninsula CCG along with colleagues from Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit came together for their first joint staff awards on 21 June. 58 nominations were received, and the judging panel spent a long time making their decision. All winners and highly commended staff are listed below but all nominees also received a certificate.

South Staffordshire set to receive special dementia support

South Staffordshire is to become a more dementia-friendly community as Lindsey Smith joins the Alzheimer’s Society this week (20 June) as a new information worker with a focus on the area.

She will be encouraging individuals and organisations to share the responsibility for ensuring that people with dementia feel understood, valued and able to contribute to their community.
